BASTA YA A LA DESTRUCCIÓN DE SAN MIGUEL


Invites all Mexican and foreign residents of San Miguel de Allende to a meeting at 7:00 PM on Tuesday February 27th at the Auditorium of “Recreo de San Miguel” (Edificio del Sindicato), Recreo no. 4, center of San Miguel de Allende.

The purpose of this meeting is to talk about issues of great importance for the future of the city, such as: overexploitation and pollution of the aquifers that provide water to the city; deforestation in and around the city; new housing developments and shopping centers (including Walmart); the new development plan for San Miguel; location of the new slaughterhouse, and citizen groups fighting to protect the city.

Our group is composed of citizens of very diverse backgrounds whose common interest is to protect the cultural and natural heritage of San Miguel de Allende. Among other actions, we organized the march to the site where a developer pretended to build two seven-storey towers of ultra-modern design. As a result of pressure from citizens and residents the plan for this development was changed to make it blend with the traditional architecture of San Miguel.
